Her kan du finne svar på noen av våre mest vanlige spørsmål.

  • If I don't have time to join the tour can I come see the reindeer by myself?
    In order to come to our camp we require our guests to book one of our tours. We don’t have staff members at all times at the camp, therefore we can only receive visitors during the tours.
  • Are there toilets at the camp?
    Yes, we have toilets at the camp and we also have an accessible toilet. The toilets are right next to the entrance.
  • Can I have an overnight experience?
    Currently we don’t offer overnight experiences.
  • Can I bring my own pets to the camp?
    Own pets are not allowed at the reindeer camp. We want to ensure the safety of our reindeer, as they might get scared of dogs at the camp.
  • Can I bring an assistance dog to the camp?
    Assistance dogs coming to the camp is not a problem. The dog should however stay out of the fence where the reindeer are, so they don't get scared.
  • Can I have a Vegetarian/Vegan meal? 
    We have a vegetarian/vegan meal option which is a tomato based stew, with celery and vegetables. It is also cooked over the open fire and it is gluten and lactose free. We cook the food fresh every day and will also ask you at the camp again if you would like the vegetarian/vegan option so you will definitely get the right meal.
  • Does the meal include lactose/gluten?
    Bidos: includes lactose but is gluten free Vegetarian soup: gluten and lactose free Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the food ingredients. We would like to know about any food allergies beforehand. You can let us know via email info@tromsoarcticreindeer.com
  • Are you open in Spring/Summer?
    Unfortunately we are closed from Mid-April to the beginning of November. All our reindeer spend the Summer up in the mountains, where they also give birth to new calves. The season opening and closing time also depend on the weather. Follow our updates on the website and social media to see when we open.
  • What should I bring to the camp?
    Please bring warm clothes (at least two layers), gloves and hat and good winter boots.
  • Do you organize private tours?
    Please call or send us an email info@tromsoarcticreindeer.com regarding the kind of private tour you would like to have and we will do our best to make this happen for you.
  • What language is spoken at the tour?
    The tours are usually held in English. Our guides also speak Norwegian. Some of our guides also speak other languages. In case you need translation to another language, please contact us.
  • Are pictures included in the tour?
    You can take as many pictures as you wish with your own camera/phone, but we don’t provide pictures.
  • Can I drive to the camp?
    You can drive to the camp with your own car. If you decide to use your own transport, you can choose that option when placing a booking.Please arrive half an hour later than the bus departure time. Then you will arrive at the same time as the other guests who are taking the bus and then it is easy for you to join the introduction, the reindeer feeding and then the Sami culture. The journey takes around 30 minutes from the city centre.
  • Can I choose a different pick up point?
    Due to scheduling, we can only offer pick up from Rorbua Pub in Tromsø city center or Tromsø Lodge & Camping.
  • How do I recognize the right bus and the guide at the pick up point?
    Our guides wear blue jackets with our logo on it and they will bring you to the right bus.
  • Do you offer family discounts?
    We do not offer family discounts. However, we have lower prices for children aged 6-12. Children under 6 years can participate for free.
  • Can I take a small child/baby with me to the tour?
    Small children are welcome to join tours as everyone else. Children under 6 years old can participate for free.
  • Do I have to take a child seat with me for my baby?
    We always count the number of small children beforehand and ask the bus company to provide enough child seats for the bus. Hence, you do not need to take your own child seat with you. It is however useful for you to add the age and weight of your child to the notes when you make the booking.
  • Can a pregnant woman participate in reindeer sledding?
    Pregnant women can participate in sledding. The sledding ride isn’t very fast paced, and the sleds are very steady.
  • Do you have blankets for the sledding tour?
    Yes, we have blankets for the guests for the sledding tour.
  • How many people sit in one sled?
    Usually two people can sit in one sled, and if you have a small child with you, the child can sit with you in the sled.
  • What is the weight limit of one sled?
    The maximum weight that a sled can take is 200 kg, but if there's heavy snow the maximum is 170 kg.
